The ultimate way to fulfill your greatest potential as a fly fisher is to train under the guidance of a professional coach.  Private lessons offer you that efficient learning experience.  Tremendous progress can be made in just a few lessons spread over time.

Private lessons usually start with an assessment of your skills, personal goals, and schedule.  Together we will work out the instructional objectives and a schedule that meets your needs.  As a beginning fly fisher the first lessons would most likely take place in a classroom and on the lawn so we can focus on the basics. Once the basics are mastered we would move to guided on-stream instruction.  Intermediate anglers would spend most of their time in guided on-stream instruction depending on their learning objectives. 

As a beginner, your full attention should be on the mechanics of the cast. Distractions prevelant while standing in a beautiful trout stream are too much, even for your instructor to stay focused!  Be patient, as your skills progress we will move quickly to guided on-stream sessions where the real action and experiential learning takes place.

Typically, private lessons would be spread out over time to allow you to practice and absorb each new set of skills before moving on to the next.  Much more is learned in few lessons spread over time than in any one or two day school.  The volume of fly fishing information provided in a school often overwhelms students and only a fraction of it is ever absorbed and actually added to your skill base.
